I passed!!!!

Well I'm pleased to say that I handed in my assignment last night as part of the assessment of the Web Page Design course, and was told by my lecturer that I have passed with 100%, a Distinction mark!

Wha-hoo!!!!

So, just nine weeks after beginning the course, which was 3.5 hours on one night a week, I've managed to obtain the City & Guilds Level 2 Qualification, so that will be going on my Curriculum Vitae as from this point onwards!

You never know it may open doors to something else in my life in the future.

What does it do right now?

Other than telling me I am competent enough to set up a website of my own, probably not much, but it's something I'm going to try and build on now, there is a Level 3 course, which includes a lot more to do with Dreamweaver, now I knew nothing about DW prior to the course, as I'd always looked at those ready made templates.

The reason for doing the course in the first place was to get to know more about the codes behind these websites, and what the hell it all means!!

At least I now know a bit about this, and will be studying a bit more through books in the next few months, as I want to develop my knowledge, if I can afford to do the Level 3 in the City & Guilds then I will, but right now, times are hard, and money is difficult to find to pay for this!

So, I can at least say that I now have a City & Guilds Qualification, and that I passed my exam with 100% marks - that's a first for me - and obtained a "Distinction" grade.

I'll keep this blog going during any further studies, or if I go back to college again to potentially do the Level 3 course.

Thanks for following up to this point!

I almost forgot, here's the link to the website we had to create:

Nearly there!

After my disappointment last week thinking that I'd messed things up, as I was finding it quite tough, I had planned a real crack at the studies this Wednesday just gone.

However, what I hadn't bargained for was my laptop deciding it wasn't going to play ball with me on what I wanted to do - and when I opened up my files, it left me unable to edit the html code on the relevant pages - I still haven't found out what the issue was, but it left me feeling gutted that the time had been wasted.

So, off to work I went on Thursday thinking that my hopes were about to be dashed, but after work, I went straight to college, and delved in, and thankfully it allowed me to edit the codes that I was playing around with.

Although, my head was still banging against the brick wall, when things weren't going the way I wanted to, so with about an hour left on the night, I took myself for a quick break, got some air, had a drink (the non alcoholic kind, although I wanted some at the time believe me!), and had a brainwave.

So, I returned, and played around with the code a little more, and what do you know it all fell into place, the problem I was having earlier was that the links were just not working from the site we have had to create, which will shortly be uploaded to the internet.

Once this is completed, I'll add the address on here, just so you can see what the site is all about, but basically, it's a cattery website - I know, a strange one hey?

Anyway, I think I'm nearly there now, I just have to copy the codes to a few differnt pages, although I now know why I was finding it rather difficult on one aspect - I'd missed the part out about Cascading Style Sheets - which just goes to show, you need to ensure you have attention to detail!!!

So, I'll put another update up after Thursday night this week, which will be hopefully after I've handed the assignment in, and had it marked by the Lecturer.

Fingers crossed for me please!!!

The assessment starts!

After a week off from College last week, it was time to head back last night, only this week, I'd booked half a day off work, so that I could study in the afternoon before going.

I buried my head in the work I'd done previously, and really got in to it.

So, I went to college, and started the assignment that is part of the exam, but found it quite tough, but as we have a few weeks left, I was able to take my time with it, rather than rush the thing.

I think one of the problems I faced last night was thinking the exam was harder than it actually was, or more to the point, was looking for more than I thought. I was under the impression that I needed to include everything I had learned about in the previous 5 weeks, but this now seems not to have been the case.

It's a shame really, as I spent 2 hours last night getting a bit frustrated with things not working, so I have another afternoon off next week to study before heading back to college again.

That's it for this week then, quite stressed last night, but okay this morning!
